USC Aiken's Women's Cross-Country team earns honor of All-Academic distinction

USC Aiken’s Women’s cross-country team received the honor of all-academic distinction from the U.S. Track & Field and Cross-Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA).

In order to be eligible for this award, the team must have a minimum of 3.0 cumulative GPA on a 4.0 scale. The six-player team, coached by USCA alumni Alley Kneece and Marcie Rapp, placed third in a list of 111 programs with a GPA of 3.847, only being surpassed by Wayne State (3.859) and Thomas Jefferson (3.850).

The USTFCCCA represents coaches across 94% of NCAA track and field programs according to the information section on their website. It acts as a representative for coaches and lobbies for coaches’ needs. The New Orleans-based organization also maintains a hall of fame for coaches and presents The Bowerman award for the best student-athlete in collegiate track and field. The organization also presents awards and scholarships to students and recognizes a student athlete of the week from across the United States, which is not entirely reliant on performance and is nominated through a form on the organization’s website.
