Women's cross-country run past the competition

The USC Aiken women’s cross-country team hosted Paine in the Invitational on Monday evening.

What was considered a spur of the moment race was no sweat for the Pacers as they ran to victory, winning the meet with 27 points, while Paine finished second with 28 points.

Sophie King, who sprinted when the horn went off, finished the race in first place with a time of 23:49.35.

Teresa Franco Dias registered a fourth place finish with a time of 26:07.74, while teammate Courtney Strauss placed fifth after completing the race in 27:46.15.

Kendra Zavala and Iree Simon placed in the top ten with Zavala placing eighth with a time of 33:45.06 and Simon taking ninth with a time of 35:40.63.

Rebecca Prine narrowly missed a top ten place, taking 11th.

The women’s cross-country team will return to action on Saturday, Oct. 19, when they wrap up the regular season at the Sand Shark Invitational which will be hosted by USC Beaufort.
