Fall Date Ideas

Fall is a wonderful time to go on dates because the weather is beautiful and there are many fall and Halloween-themed activities.

Haunted Houses: During October, many couples seek out spooky dates for a rush of adrenaline and fun. Around the Aiken area, there are two haunted house experiences that are the best.

-        Deceased Farms: This is located at 382 Olde Farm Rd Lexington, SC 29072, which is only a 45-minute drive from Downtown Aiken. Prices for the tickets range from $22-$25, depending on the day you attend. Deceased Farms only accepts cash, but they also have an ATM available on site. On Friday and Saturday, the hours are 7:30-11:30 pm and all other open nights are open from 7:30-10:30 pm.

The walkthrough takes about an hour to complete as you walk through 6 themed buildings, 3 outdoor areas and corn fields. They change things every year, making each year exciting and new. This attraction is not recommended for children under the age of 12 because it is pretty scary and once you start the walkthrough, there is no leaving it (unless there is a medical emergency).

The wait times increase the closer it gets to Halloween, so arriving early is recommended. Once the tickets are bought, you are given a number and when that number is called, you get in the queue to enter. This system works effectively at keeping lines short. While waiting to enter the line, there are food, alcohol and non-alcoholic beverages available and scary characters walking around to take photos with.

-        Kreepy Hollow: This is located at 1251 Joe Dority Rd Bishopville, SC 29010, which is an hour and 45-minute drive from Downtown Aiken. Although the drive is a bit lengthy, this is by far the best haunted house experience I have had. Tickets are $25 and they accept cash, debit and credit cards. In October, Fridays and Saturdays are open from 7:30-12:30 am and Thursdays and Sundays are open from 7:30-10:30 pm. In November, Kreepy Hollow is only open Fridays and Saturdays from 7:30- 11 pm.

The experience takes a couple of hours because of how many stages you are led through. The experience starts with a crazy, spooky bus ride with loud rock music, strobe lights and horror characters. Once exiting the bus, you are led through a haunted house with many rooms and actors. After the haunted house, you get onto a hayride. This ride takes you through 6 different themed areas full of actors interacting with you and putting on a show.

Apple Picking: Taking a drive through the mountains during fall is beautiful because all the leaves change colors. Going to an Apple orchard is beautiful due to the views, romantics and also fun!

Sky Top Orchard is located at 1193 Pinnacle Mountain Rd, Zirconia, NC 28790.  This is a bit of a drive from Aiken, but it is definitely worth it. Sky Top Orchard is open every day from 9 am-6 pm.

Sky Top Orchard allows you to pick your own apples, cherries, peaches, pears and grapes during the picking season. This typically starts in mid-August and ends in mid-November. Going to pick is free, but taking home the produce does cost money based on how much fruit is picked.

Along with picking fruit, there is also delicious food to eat. Apple cider doughnuts, apple baked goods, apple cider, caramel apples, fudge apples, kettle corn, honey, jam and jelly are all different products you can enjoy or take home with you.

Other attractions are also available, such as a hayride, gem mining, an apple cannon, a barn, a bamboo forest and a playground. This is the perfect place to spend a day enjoying the sights and eating delicious food.

Pumpkin Patch: There are Pumpkin Patches scattered around town throughout the fall. Going out and picking the perfect pumpkin to carve is a fun and inexpensive date. Pick out the best pumpkin, go home, carve out a face and then enjoy the pumpkin's insides by making various baked goods or roasted pumpkin seeds.

Hiking: There are many beautiful places to hike throughout South Carolina, Georgia and North Carolina. Fall is the perfect time to go enjoy a hike through the mountains because of how cool and beautiful the weather is.

Hiking is a wonderful way to connect with your partner due to the disconnect from technology and the worries of everyday life.

Table Rock South Carolina is located at 158 E Ellison Ln, Pickens, SC 29671. This hike is a bit challenging, but the views from the top of the mountain are amazing. There are also tons of wildlife to admire throughout the entire path.

Black Balsam Knob is located near milepost 420 on the Blue Ridge Parkway. This is in the Pisgah National Forest and is within the Blue Ridge Mountains. Black Balsam Knob is absolutely breathtaking.
