Date Night: The Final Door Escape Room

Date Night: The Final Door Escape Room

Looking for a fun date night? Look no further, The Final Door Escape Room in Columbia is one of the most challenging and fun date nights you will experience!

The Final Door is like other escape rooms in the sense that there is a choice of different themed experiences, intricate puzzles and the classic three-room setup. But where this company differs is that they are privately owned, so they do not have the same constraints as other places. Their competitor Escapology Escape Rooms is also a great experience, but all the rooms stop at eye level and you will never have to crawl or climb. I frequently would go to Escapology, but one night decided to change it up. And I am so happy that I did. The rooms at The Final Door are so immersive that you forget about the outside world for an hour.

The first room that I ever did at The Final Door was “The Sacrifice”. This room is themed around you being kidnapped by a cult that wants to use you as a human sacrifice in the ritual! This room involves handcuffs, blindfolds, Ouija boards, crawling into dark spaces, candles and pentagrams. Each room is eerie and revolves entirely around the theme. This was a very different escape room than I have experienced because of the total immersion. The décor is from floor to ceiling and the very start of the game is a shock to most. The room had some difficult puzzles that requires critical thinking. This room also involves the normal difficulty as well as a hard version. The hard version is the same premise but includes more puzzles. This room is not for the faint of heart, the start of the room is terrifying as well as the rest of the room. I do not want to give any of the surprise elements away but be prepared to be frightened. The room is recommended for ages 18 and up!

The second room that I experienced was “Down the Rabbit Hole”. This room is more family-friendly than the other, but still full of surprises and excitement. “Down the Rabbit Hole” follows the story of The Queen of Hearts chasing the Mad Hatter into reality and your goal is to find the key to bring him back. This game has three-dimensional elements, climbing, ball pits, swirly slides and a tea party. This game was the most interactive one I have ever experienced. All three of the rooms are wacky and look straight out of Alice and Wonderland. The room has two stories to it, which is not a common element in most escape rooms.

As of right now The Final Door only has five games available: The Sacrifice, Down the Rabbit Hole, The Vampyr, Grinched and Blackout. They are all worth checking out according to the reviews and I plan on trying out the other three. On one of my visits, we talked to a team member for about thirty minutes after the game and learned that they do plan on changing out one of their rooms for a new challenge eventually.

The price point per ticket is $32.99, which is a bit pricey, so I recommend planning it for a night where you have some extra spending money. The hour-long experience is worth every penny because of the challenging and exciting time you will have. The waiting room also includes a bar with alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages and little games to pass the time like Jenga if you arrive early. I also recommend going in a group of four because they may prove a bit challenging for just two players, but too easy for large groups. This is the perfect place to go for a double date or a night out if you are ready to challenge yourselves.
