Beethoven specialist John O'Conor set to rock the Etherredge Center

Annually, USC Aiken hosts the Winter Nocturne concert. This year, the Etherredge center will host world-renowned Beethoven specialist John O'Conor.

O’Conor, unanimous winner of the first prize at the International Beethoven Piano Competition in Vienna in 1973, has been accruing worldwide success for over 40 years through his virtuosic piano playing. His recent recordings of the complete Beethoven Piano Concertos with the London Symphony Orchestra and Andreas Delfs have also been greeted with acclaim. O’Conor also gained success through his CD recordings and has recently released three new CDs on the Steinway label, one of Beethoven's Diabelli Variations and two Haydn Sonatas. O’Conor has also recorded a CD of the complete Beethoven Cello Sonatas with the Irish cellist Ailbhe McDonagh.

O’Conor will be performing with the Aiken Civic Orchestra, led by conductor Adam DePriest. The orchestra is comprised of community members from the Aiken area who share a passion for music and perform around ten programs per season.

The event will occur at the Etherredge Center on Thursday, Feb. 3 at 7:00 p.m.

Tickets are on sale now and can be purchased at usca.edu/etherredge-center or by calling 803-641-3305. General admission is $25 while students are admitted at no cost and can receive ICE credit.
