USC Aiken Wind Ensemble set to perform first concert of the semester

The USC Aiken Wind Ensemble will be having their first concert of the semester on Thursday, March 3 at 7:30 p.m. on the Etherredge Center’s main stage.

The instrumental group under the baton of Dr. Hayes Bunch will be performing musical selections by Viet Cuong, Walter Hartley, Ilari Hylkia, James Syler, Franz Schubert and Eric Whitacre. Also, Hartley’s work, “Chamber Music,” will feature jazz band and saxophone instructor Dr. Matthew Castner.

While no strangers to atonal and aleatoric music (music that leaves the composed work’s realization up to the performer), this continuum sees the wind ensemble in a more tonal, memorable and melodic style, only hinting at atonality with the work of Hartley.

The concert is free to both USC Aiken students and faculty with their school identifications and will have a $10 admittance fee for the general public. This event is also an ICE event for USC Aiken students. Ticket information can be found by contacting the Etherredge Center box office at (803)-641-3305 or by going on their website here.
