Dorm Dash: Teriyaki Sausage with Rice

Dorm Dash: Teriyaki Sausage with Rice

As college students, cheap and easy meals are our go-to. This week’s Dorm Dash is something that I’ve been making a lot lately, and everyone who’s had it has loved it.

What you’ll need:

  • One pack of Hillshire Sausage (I prefer the smoked beef one)

  • Minced garlic

  • Quarter of an onion (or minced onion spice)

  • Two or three bell peppers

  • Teriyaki sauce

  • Rice of your choice (the pack of boil rice is what I use)

You first want to start cooking your rice. This tends to be the longest thing to cook. For whichever rice you get, follow the instructions on the box.

While that’s starting to cook, put a large skillet or pan on the stove and turn it on to medium heat. Add a little bit of olive oil to the pan with the minced garlic and onion. Remember, you don’t need the whole onion, just a quarter of it.

Slice up the Hillshire sausage into medium size slices, then add to the pan/skillet.

Reminder: make sure you’re still paying attention to the rice!

While the sausage and onion are cooking, chop up the bell peppers into bite-size pieces. Once done, add to the pan. Sausage cooks fast, so once you add the peppers, everything should be done in 3-5 minutes.

Once everything is cooked, add the teriyaki sauce to the pan and mix everything together.

This is optional, but I don’t mix the rice in with the sausage mixer. I just get a bowl and add the mixer on top of the rice, but it is all up to you.
