Residents Should Be Allowed to Park on Campus When it Rains

Living on campus has many advantages, but just like everything else, it also has its downfalls.

There are some great things about living on campus, such as the closeness to buildings so you do not need to drive all the time just to get to class, but I know everyone has times when you just wish you could drive on campus because you do not want to do that walk.

The worst of all is when it is pouring down and you must get to class soon. No amount of rain jackets and boots fix the issue of getting soaking wet and sometimes even ruin some of your papers because it is raining that hard. With that rain, I also know several people who missed class because they did not feel comfortable walking through the rain

The issue at hand could be solved with the simple act of letting housing residents park on campus when it is raining outside, even if it is as little as the furthest back row of each lot when it is raining.

Minimizing the risk of losing our work for a class because of rain helps to soothe the worries of going to class in the rain. We as residents on campus would not have to walk through all that rain first thing in the morning and enter class dripping if we were allowed to drive to the main parking lots on campus and it would help especially with those that have 8 a.m. classes. We residents should be allowed to drive on campus for that very reason, even if just for those rainy days because of the help it would give us.
