Intro To SPECTRUM!

Intro To SPECTRUM!

SPECTRUM is an LGBTQ+ support group that’s somewhat new to the USC Aiken Campus. Standing for Space for Pride, Equality, Community, Trust, Respect, Unity, and Mentorship, and it’s meant to give students a safe space with people they’re able to relate to.

Mary Moussa Rogers and Brianne Coulombe, both in the psychology department and both members of the LGBTQ+ community decided to come together and provide this to students.

Rogers is a Clinical Psychologist from North Carolina and identifies as bisexual while answering to all pronouns. Brianne Coulombe is an Assistant Professor of Psychology from California. She identifies as bisexual and goes by she/her pronouns.

While this group is very active on campus with multiple meetings throughout this semester there’s still a problem with getting students involved and aware of this group.

Anonymity is an important aspect and is needed for some students who aren’t out to the public or simply just don’t want everyone knowing. This is why there isn’t much attention on social media for it, but there are ways to get in the know about SPECTRUM!

Meetings take place every other Thursday from 2-3 pm in Penland 110.
