Don't Worry Pacers, here's my summary and review

“Don’t Worry Darling” changed the way we view thrillers.

The movie was released on September 23, 2022, and featured well-known actors: Chris Pine, Florence Pugh, and Gemma Chan. With a special feature, Harry Styles.

In the majority of movies that I watch, I can predict the ending. However, this movie wasn’t the case.

Set in the 1950s, it follows the story of Alice, played by Pugh, being a supportive housewife to Jack, played by Styles. They live in the community of Victory, where all the men work for the leader Frank, played by Pine. Everything appears to be perfect in their little town, but appearances aren’t always what they seem to be.

Throughout the movie, I enjoyed the custom and set designs, along with the acting. I know some people thought that Styles’ acting wasn’t the best; however, I thought he did quite well for a singer.

While watching, I kept trying to guess what was going to happen next, but I was wrong each time. The movie was also confusing at some points, especially when Alice kept getting paranoid and weird things were happening to her. This all started to happen after she watched one of her friends, Margaret, played by Kiki Layne, kill herself.

At this point in the movie, I was fully convinced that leader Frank and the doctor of the town abducted all the people and brainwashed them into thinking they were stuck in the 1950s. That Alice was the only one who had figured it out.

The movie then took a turn when Alice and Jack hosted a dinner for Frank, his wife, and their neighbors. While Alice was in the kitchen finishing up dinner, Frank silently snuck in and confirmed that she wasn’t going insane. That there was something evil about the town and himself.

After that encounter, Alice confronted Frank in front of everyone. However, it backfired. They all thought she was insane, and that night guys in red jumpsuits came and took her away. The next scene then showed her being strapped down to a medical table and being shocked.

Suddenly, I was caught completely off guard by the scene that followed. Alice was a doctor finishing up surgery and went home to Jack being lazy in their apartment. I was confused about what was happening because I thought this was happening in the 50s. But now they are in modern times.

The last minutes of this movie were intense. It went from Alice and Jack being in 2022 back to the 1950s. I started to get nervous about what was going to happen next, because I had no idea.

Jack then started singing, which triggered Alice into remembering what happened to her. Apparently, Jack signed a contract that put them in this virtual reality. However, it shows that he tied down Alice to their bed with this weird metal devices on her eyes.

Once Alice started to remember what Jack did to her, she killed him. And just when I start to think the movie is going to be predictable, it throws another curve ball. Apparently, all the men in the town forced their wives into this false reality. My mind was blown.

The movie ends with her driving to the building that allows them to leave that reality and enter back into real life. However, it doesn’t show her waking up. The screen just goes black.

The end.
