Creating a schedule to suit the current situation

With COVID-19 causing school shutdowns and online learning, schedules have been crazy for a lot of people.

Assignments, tests, exams, worksheets, essays and quizzes have been moved around and added to already heavy workloads.

Looking at your assignments coming in from your professors, you may be overwhelmed and lost, but here are a few ideas to help you manage your workload and get back on schedule:

  • Write the due dates of assignments on a calendar/planner. This will help with visualizing when work is due and scheduling spreads the workload out to make it seem more manageable.

  • Keep a daily checklist. A checklist can help you manage your workload each day.

  • Plan some time to rest. It may seem like there isn’t time to relax, but schedule in some time where you can sit back and relax.

  • Start your assignments early and work on them over a few days. Don’t try and cram all of your work into one day. When you get the assignment, if time allows, work on it over a few days.

  • Don’t wait until your assignments are due to work on them. This will stress you out more and the quality of work will go down when you rush.

  • Get some sleep. Good quality sleep can help with your energy levels during the day so you don’t feel as tired.

  • Stick to a schedule. Working from home doesn’t mean you can’t have a daily schedule.
