Valentine's Day dates for students on a budget

Valentine’s Day is this Friday! Students in relationships of all kinds are trying to plan something special for their special someone. Being a student, budgets can be a huge restriction on what one can do, and sometimes, the costs of a date can stack up heavily. If you are looking for a way to save a pretty penny, and do something special for your significant other, here are some date ideas to do just that:

-A picnic under the stars! This one is super simple yet so romantic. All you need is a blanket, a sandwich, chips, a few sodas, and a clear sky! Want to make it even more romantic? Add a few candles!

-A bonfire! Another simple yet adorable date idea. For this, you need an area that allows fires, some marshmallows, a few sticks to roast the marshmallows on, a blanket to sit on, and some drinks!

-Game Night! Something super easy and fun! If you wanted to, this could turn into a double date! Play games such as; “Never Have I Ever”, “20 Questions”, Uno, Monopoly, or any game you and your partner enjoy!

-Build a cozy fort! This one is super cute and free! All you need is a semi-large space (a living room or bedroom), some pillows and blankets, and a great imagination! You can also watch a movie if you so choose. A great thing about this idea is that if you live on campus, this is super easy to do in the dorms! *You can also have a pillow fight!!*

-Go to a party! It’s college. There’s bound to be a party somewhere.

-Go on a nice walk and watch the sunset! This is a charming little date idea. A stroll with your significant other, talking, laughing, watching the sun go down.

-Dance! This is a memorable way to make Valentine’s Day special. Grab a speaker and play some music. Want to take it a step further? Tell your significant other to dress up (you do too), go out to a gazebo (some are located on campus), and dance the night away.

-Have a movie marathon! Grab your laptop (or TV if you have one), snag some snacks, get cozy, and cuddle up with your partner while you watch your favorite movies! Don’t know what to watch? Read staff writer Angle-Hope Watts has a list of top 10 Valentine's Day movies to watch!

-At home couples spa! This is a great way to pamper you and your significant other! You can do hair masks, face masks, foot soaks, you name it! Want to make this more fanciful and relaxing? Take a candle lit bath (or shower) together. You can do a bubble bath, salt bath, or if you can, rose petals. School is stressful, why not kill two birds with one stone?

-Cook together! A great way to create tasty food and irreplaceable memories together. For this, you need an easy recipe, a kitchen, the ingredients, and your partner. If you don’t know what to make, I personally recommend these great dinners:

-One-Pot Chicken Alfredo

-Quick and Easy Mac and Cheese

-Easy Beef Tacos

-Mozzarella in Carrozza (Fried Mozzarella Sandwiches)
