Teen Dating Violence Awareness Month

Teen Dating Violence Awareness Month

February marks National Teen Dating Violence Awareness Month (TDVAM).

Young adults and teenagers experience high levels of violence in relationships. This violence can occur in various forms such as manipulation, emotional abuse, physical abuse, stalking, harassment, sexual abuse and so much more.

TDVAM is essential because it highlights this violent issue that is affecting so many young people. The visibility of this issue makes getting help more accessible and encourages cases of abuse to be reported.

Teen Dating Violence states:

“Teen dating violence, also known as intimate partner violence or intimate relationship violence, is a serious problem in the U.S., affecting approximately 10% of all teenagers between the age of 12 to 18.”

On Feb. 1, 2024, The Cumbee Center will host a table from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. to bring awareness to this problem. Their table will be located at the SAC.
