The Tour of the Year

The Tour of the Year

Look around everybody on mute… Were you on your Zoom? Because I was.

Over this past summer, I got to see my childhood idol live and in action for the first time ever! Beyoncé!

The Renaissance tour started on May 10, 2023, in Stockholm, Sweden and plans to end on Oct. 1, 2023, in Kansas City, MO. I had the opportunity to see her perform in Charlotte, NC on Aug. 9.

To begin, the whole environment from when I entered to when I exited the building was remarkable. People were complimenting me from left and right even the security guards were in love with my outfit. It just felt good to feel comfortable in public especially when everyone is a Beyoncé fan or a part of the LGBTQ community.

When Beyoncé finally arrived on stage my heart dropped and couldn’t believe this was my life right then. It’s always been a dream of mine to see my first-ever idol.

Although she never released any visuals for her Beyhive fans she definitely took time in her visuals for the tour. The visuals included new clips from the House of Chrome and even clips from past music videos from popular songs such as “Flawless”, “Heard About Us” and “Find Your Way Back”. Lastly, having famous ballroom celebrities add voiceovers to the production.

The visuals were only a piece of the experience. Going into other details the outfits, hairstyles and accessories added even more to the concert.

When I watched the performance through TikTok and other social media, before attending the concert, I noticed all and I mean all of her backup dancers had blonde hair. I took that opportunity and made sure I had platinum blonde hair for the show and surprisingly nobody else had my hair color.

The amount of detail put into the concert deserves an award on its own. No matter how many people say Beyoncé is overrated or over-hyped I beg to disagree, she deserves all the hype. She is a living legend and one of the greatest to do it. Performing live and still sounding the same takes a lot of time, hard work and practice.

The whole Renaissance tour was a 10/10 once-in-a-lifetime experience that I was glad to see in action.
