Album Review - "Special" by Lizzo

            Lizzo is an artist that many people know. She has had several songs go viral be it through TikTok, on the radio, or anything else. Lizzo has stayed in the spotlight throughout her career as a music artist and always works to spread that message of loving yourself. She wants to make sure others know that no matter how you look you are amazing just as you are and that is something her album “Special” tells all about.

            A song many people may know from the album is “About Damn Time” which has been on the radio numerous times. It shares this message of being unapologetically you because what matters is that you be true to yourself. She also teaches in the song that you need to soothe those worries about life and celebrate when you can, whatever the reason may be. Practicing self-love is another clear message from this song and one that is seen through this entire album because she wants to make sure everyone knows they are special.

            Another great song from the album is “I Love You Bitch” which really spoke out. It sounds like the perfect song to just have some self-affirmations. It boosted my mood when I listened to it because it brings that message of loving yourself and showing that you’re great as you are. Lizzo’s music works a lot to talk about self-love which is a big issue that some people experience. This song brings more towards that experience of helping everyone better understand who they are is fine, work towards loving yourself and you’ll grow even more.

            Lizzo’s album brings a lot of wonderful sides to the narrative she is telling. I loved every moment of her album and some of these songs are getting added to one of my playlists for when I need some self-love and to feel better through the stresses of college.
