USC Aiken campus updates mask requirements

USC Aiken campus updates mask requirements

The previous protocol required students and staff to wear a face mask when inside any indoor space, including housing. This is no longer the case, as of Tuesday, Feb. 22. Masks are now only required in instructional and research spaces. Masking in other areas remains voluntary but is still encouraged by administration. Masks will be available in all buildings, according to the university.

The university will continue to monitor ongoing information regarding COVID-19. This will be done with the help of the COVID-19 coordinators on campus, the COVID-19 Task Force, as well as state and federal agencies such as DHEC and the CDC.

Students who think they may have COVID-19 should not go to the Student Health Center, but contact them at 803-641-2840 or the COVID-19 Helpline at 803-641-3271. Upon a positive test, individuals should stay quarantined for five days or longer if a fever persists. They should also wear a mask when around others for an additional five days after their fever resolves. Students should check the university’s COVID-19 dashboard for weekly reports.

Students who test positive for COVID-19 should notify the COVID Coordinators at COVIDCoordinators@usca.edu.
