New parenting class offered by USC Aiken’s Psychology Clinic

USC Aiken’s Psychology Clinic is soon to begin offering a nine-week parenting class to aid caregivers of adolescents and children. This class will begin on March 31 and end May 26.

The class will focus on challenging behaviors that children may exhibit and will give parents a variety of tools needed to deal with these difficult behaviors efficiently. Some examples of adverse behaviors that will be covered include fighting with siblings or other children, temper tantrums and refusing to listen to authority. Parents and caregivers will learn to manage these behavioral issues by learning how to better understand the child.

The class will be led by students who have graduated from USCA’s Applied Clinical Psychology Program alongside clinical child psychologist Dr. Bridget Cho. Cho, who graduated from the University of Kansas with a Ph.D. in clinical child psychology, is a USC Aiken professor who teaches undergraduate courses in developmental psychology, childhood psychopathology, multicultural psychology, and graduate courses in psychopathology and cognitive assessment.

Class will take place in the Penland Administration Building in room 201. The meeting time is once weekly on Thursday afternoons from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. The cost of attendance is $30 for the full nine weeks.

The registration date is March 17 and the class size is limited. To secure a spot, call (803) 641-2847.
