Broken Ink release party, open submissions for next edition

USC Aiken’s literary and visual arts magazine, Broken Ink, is now available after the release party in the Student Activities Center (SAC) Quad Sept. 23.

The journal’s planned release last semester was delayed by the pandemic. A video slide show with musical submissions played as students viewed enlargements of artwork from this issue. Copies of the magazine and refreshments were freely available.

The magazine contains student-produced poetry, paintings, short stories, artwork and links to student-produced music.

The program began with two poems and one short story from the magazine read by the authors to 53 students participating in Inter Curricular Enrichment credit (ICE). Following the readings, Professor Joe Kameen spoke about how to see lines, shadows in light in surrounding objects.

Editor-In-Chief Isabel Martinez said, “For the next issue, with the abbreviated semester schedule, all submissions that will be given feedback must be in by November 20. Submissions will also be accepted up to early February Spring Semester 2021 but no feedback will be given.”

Free copies of the magazine are available at the Student Media Room near Starbucks in the SAC.
