In an email to the student body, Chancellor Sandra Jordan gave condolences with the campus.

“I am saddened to share this news with the members of our campus community,” she wrote, announcing that sophomore Communication major, Jeremiah Duncan, had been identified as the homicide victim found in Aiken this morning.

“News like this is very difficult for all of us in a close-knit campus community like USC Aiken,” she continued. “Please be aware that counselors are standing by to support you and provide grief counseling.”

The Counseling Center, located in the Business and Education building, is available to students, faculty and staff of the university. They can be reached by phone at (803)-641-3609.

“Our first priority at this moment is to extend our sympathy and condolences to Jeremiah’s family and friends,” wrote Jordan. “Please keep them in your thoughts and prayers.”
