Dorm-Dash: A day's worth of meals in a mug

Mug meals are quick, delicious, can be made in the microwave, and only require you to dirty one dish. Try these recipes out between classes or any time. And don’t forget dessert!

Breakfast

Mug Omelets

Ingredients

  • 2 eggs

  • 1 tablespoon flour

  • 1 tablespoon milk

  • 1 tablespoon shredded cheese

  • 2 tablespoon diced bell pepper

  • 2 tablespoon diced onion

  • meat (if that’s your thing)

  • salt & Pepper

Directions

  1. In your mug, crack and beat your eggs with a fork

  2. Stir in the flour, milk, cheese, and diced vegetables

  3. Cut your meat into small pieces and add to mug

  4. Season with salt and pepper and stir once more

  5. Microwave for 1 minute, then continue to microwave for 15 seconds at a time until it looks delicious

Lunch

Chilaquiles in a mug

Ingredients

  • 2 eggs

  • 2 tablespoon milk

  • salt and pepper

  • 3 tablespoon shredded cheese

  • tortilla chips (lightly crushed)

  • 3 tablespoon salsa

  • (Optional) sour cream, green onion (diced), cilantro (minced)

Directions

  1. Whisk eggs and milk in your mug with a fork

  2. Add salt and pepper

  3. Stir in cheese, salsa, and tortilla chips

  4. Microwave for about 2 minutes

  5. Top with green onion, sour cream, and cilantro to taste

Dinner

Simplest Mac and Cheese Ever (in a mug)

Ingredients

  • ½ cup macaroni pasta

  • ½ cup milk

  • ½ cup cheddar cheese

Directions

  1. Add pasta and milk in your mug

  2. Microwave pasta for 1 minute at a time, checking pasta consistency between cycles. Around 4 minutes, pasta should be done

  3. Pour off excess milk

  4. Add cheese and stir

  5. Microwave for 30-60 seconds until it’s melty and looks delicious

Dessert

Mug Cookie

Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoon butter

  • 2 tablespoon sugar

  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar

  • 1 egg

  • ¼ teaspoon vanilla extract

  • ⅓ cup flour

  • ¼ teaspoon baking powder

  • pinch of salt

  • 2 tablespoon chocolate chips

Directions

  1. Microwave butter 20-25 seconds in mug

  2. Add sugar and brown sugar. Stir

  3. Add egg and vanilla extract. Use a fork to whisk everything together

  4. Stir in flour, baking powder, and salt

  5. Stir in chocolate chips

  6. Heat for 1 minute to 1 minute 45 seconds (based on the size of your mug)
