University to continue updates on Hurricane Michael

University officials published weather updates today through the USCA website, social media, the ALERTUS app, and other mediums.

While no decisions have been made about the status of classes for the end of the week, the update promised that they would be “working closely with county officials to monitor the developing weather pattern related to Hurricane Michael.”

According to CBS news, Michael was upgraded to a category 3 hurricane this afternoon and is expected to hit the Florida panhandle “with maximum sustained winds of 120 mph.”

The storm will continue through Georgia in the early hours on Thursday, passing through central South Carolina and the surrounding counties around 2 p.m.

Students were advised to check the USC Aiken website for continuing updates on how the weather will affect class schedules.
