Hollywood's It Couple Vs. The People

Hollywood's It Couple Vs. The People

People’s reactions on social media to Zendaya and Tom Holland’s new projects were disgusting.

When the trailer for Zendaya’s new movie “Challengers” dropped, fans were surprised to see Tashi, her character, with two men sexually.

I saw comments saying Tashi was being promiscuous and acting as if Zendaya’s acting reflected on her as a person. These comments uphold the unprogressive idea that a woman exploring her sexuality is immoral.

People also made comments regarding her relationship with Tom Holland regarding her acting as cheating on him. They said things similar to him needing to come to get his woman and make her act right.

As if her performing the duties of her job would affect her romantic relationship with another actor who understands that sex scenes are a part of their profession. She is an adult whose actions don’t need to be guided or controlled by her boyfriend.

On to Tom Holland’s gay sex scene in Apple TV’s “The Crowded Room”.

I saw the clip of Tom Holland’s character Danny Sullivan having sex with another male character trending online.

The comments were perpetuating heterosexism which is the proper term for what most people call homophobia. People were saying that Tom was no longer their Spiderman and could no longer support him.

Other comments were saying that was his way of getting back at Zendaya for the “Challengers” movie.

It is their job as actors to portray characters that behave differently from them as people. I wish people could separate actors from their characters.

As a Zendaya fan, I am very excited to watch “Challengers” when it comes out on April 26, 2024, to see her portray another complex character.
