Tips to Ditch the Vape

Vaping is an addiction that many young people are struggling with in 2023. Many of my fellow peers have been trying to beat this addiction, but it is incredibly difficult.

Recently I have decided to quit vaping, which has proven itself to be difficult. Here are some tips that personally help me the most when a craving hits hard:

  • Find a distraction

    • Cleaning

    • Playing a video game

    • Reading a book

    • Doing a project

    • Working out

  • Distance yourself from friends who vape

    • This does not mean that you have to completely cut your friends out of your life, but within the first few days distance yourself a bit.

  • Get a water bottle with a straw 

    • This can replace the hand-to-mouth motion that occurs when vaping.

  • Hard candies

    • Mints and suckers are a great replacement for a vape because they give your mouth something to do.

  • Nicotine Replacements

    • Nicotine gum comes in various nicotine percentages. This is a great way to knock the vape out, but not have serious withdrawal symptoms. Slowly move down in strength of the gum, until it is no longer needed.

    • Nicotine pouches and patches have similar functions that the gum does and are great aids to kicking the habit of vaping.

  • Stay strong!

    • You can follow all of the tips on this list and still fall back into the addiction. The only way to truly ditch the vape is to stay consistent and determined. And remember it gets easier!
