Changes to Campus Dining

Changes to Campus Dining

The Student Activities Center Café (SAC Café) is one of the four dining services at USC Aiken.

The SAC Café has the option of Late Night Grill available to students Tuesdays through Thursdays from 8:30 – 10:30 p.m. when students can buy what is on the menu for that day.

During the week, the SAC Café begins serving breakfast at 7:00 a.m. and is open at different times of the day for lunch and dinner. When dinner ends at 7:00 p.m., there aren’t many food options available to students besides the Pacer Market since The Station closes at 5:00 p.m.

Candace Amaker, a senior art major and resident on campus, is grateful for the option of Late Night Grill and expressed a desire to see more food services available around campus

“There should definitely be more food places around here besides the SAC, market and station. Or at least they could cut down on the prices in the market because everything in there is so expensive! And once the SAC closes for the night, that’s it. And with the station, if you have a meal plan, you’ll only get either a breakfast sandwich, a sub, or some Chick-fil-A depending on the day, but having those same options every day is so boring,” said Amaker.

Recently, there have been a few changes to campus dining in the SAC Café with a grill station often serving a variety of food such as taco salad, sandwiches and more.

Larissa Fiquris, a senior business and education major and commuter, is pleased with the variety of foods the SAC Café offers.

“I like that the food choices are diverse. I’ve attended for almost four years now and when I was a freshman the food they served was mostly just American cuisine. I feel that having different varieties of cuisines is not only more enjoyable and allows students to learn more about different cultures through foods, but also allows some of the international students to feel more at home depending on the cuisine and where they’re from like my friend from India,” said Fiquiris.

Late Night Grill has begun serving different foods during the week as well, in contrast to the fall semester when the options varied slightly every week from Gyos and Wings. They had Quesadillas on Feb. 21, Wing Wednesday on Feb. 22 and the option of either Breakfast for Dinner or Philly Cheesetakes on Feb. 23.

The week of Feb. 27 Late Night Grill will have the following:

  • Feb. 28: Mac & Cheese Bowls or Mini Corndogs

  • Mar. 1: Wing Wednesday

  • Mar. 2: BBQ Ribs or Deluxe Grilled Cheese
