Dorm Dash: Katie's Avocado Toast

Dorm Dash: Katie's Avocado Toast

Today is the last day of class for most Pacers, which means that most of us will be waking up a lot later than usual. With more time on your hands, you might be looking for a late, easy breakfast meal now that your 8 a.m. class is out of the way or you are just hungry for a healthy, filling snack. Either way, there’s a perfect solution: two pieces of avocado toast.

Avocado toast has been a trending food among dieters and weight watchers alike, but the flavor and convenience make it the perfect, quick breakfast. I’ve developed my own personal recipe for avocado toast that is extremely affordable and takes around 10 minutes to make.

Ingredients

  • Olive oil or butter

  • 1 avocado or box of avocado spread

  • 1 egg

  • 1 piece of whole, wheat bread

  • A pinch of salt, pepper and everything seasoning

  • 1 bottle of sriracha or sriracha mayo

Instructions

  1. Put a medium pan on mid-high heat and splash a small amount of olive oil or butter inside.

  2. Once the oil shimmers or the butter melts, crack and cook the egg to your preferred texture. I personally eat my eggs over medium, which means the yolk will be only a little runny.

  3. Toast bread so that both the toast and egg are complete at the same time.

  4. Spread avocado on the toast and add the egg on top.

  5. Top it all off with a drizzle of sriracha or sriracha mayo and a dash of salt, pepper and everything seasoning.
