Oswald Writer's Series presents Anthony Varallo, author of "The Lines"

On Thursday, March 17, the next installment of the Oswald Distinguished Writer's Series will be held at USC Aiken and will feature Author Anthony Varallo as the guest speaker.

Varallo is an English professor at the College of Charleston and teaches in the MFA program in creative writing. He is most well-known for his novel, “The Lines.” He has also written four short story collections which have each won literary awards. Varallo also serves as the fiction editor for the College of Charleston's literary publication, Crazyhorse.

At this event, Varallo will be holding a book signing and reading parts of his written works aloud.

The Oswald Writer's Series is an annual event established by the English department to provide public readings of contemporary poetry and prose to the USC Aiken campus and the community. It was created in 1985 with the support of Dr. Robert Alexandar, distinguished Chancellor Emeritus.

In 1995 the series was named in honor of Aiken residents James and Mary Oswald who were longtime supporters of the English department and advocates for promoting interest in literature.

This installment of the series will be held at 7:30 p.m. in the Etherredge Center. The event will be open to the public and have free admission.
