USC Aiken recognized by Tree Campus Higher Education for commitment to tree care and student service engagement

News section editor Erin Weeks learned more about the Tree Campus Higher Education recognition that the USC Aiken campus recently received as well as the requirements for this honor and the trees that got us there. I had no idea our trees were so diverse, but they are one of the features that drew me to this campus!

COVID-19 on a national and state-wide decline, though still infecting thousands

Everyone is ready for COVID to be over - reporter Katie Presnell outlines the ways in which we may prevent another outbreak and/or variant by getting vaccinated, wearing a mask, and social distancing. If each of us plays our part, I hope we can see an end to the pandemic.

Album Review: Laurel Hell, another "heart-wrenching and explorative experience"

Arts and Entertainment section editor Alex Molina delves into a short album produced by Japanese American artist Mitski. I have never heard anything by her, but I think it says a lot about an artist who is still able to produce good music under less-than-ideal circumstances.

USC Aiken's Women's Cross-Country team earns honor of All-Academic distinction

Not only is our cross-country team good at what they do, they’re one of the smartest teams in the area! It is very impressive that the team is able to keep such a high GPA considering how busy they are as student athletes. They are certainly setting a high standard for other USC Aiken students and athletes alike!

"Station Eleven" is a must watch spring break flick

Opinion section editor Paige Singer provides a review on HBO Max’s new show that I hadn’t heard about until she brought it to the staff’s attention. Since then, I feel like everyone is talking about it! With Paige’s five stars, I will have to make an effort to tune in!

Column: Go Greek, get involved, gain long-lasting friendships at USC Aiken

I never quite saw myself as the type to go Greek either, which is why opinion section editor Paige Singer caught my attention when she remarked the same thing. I am always looking for more ways to get involved and meet people, so I should take her advice and take that leap!
