Pacer Golf Team attends Wexford Invitational in Hilton Head

The USC Aiken golf team, ranked second in the latest Bushnell/Golfweek Division II Coaches Poll, finished in sixth place at the Wexford Intercollegiate Feb. 22, a tournament held in Hilton Head, South Carolina.

Francis Marion University emerged on top of the event, shooting two-over par, 866. Following Francis Marion, Furman University earned second place shooting three-over par, 867. Augusta University placed third after going six-over par, 870, and East Carolina University and Mercer University tied for fourth with both teams shooting seven-over par, 871.

The USC Aiken golf team, led by head coach Michael Carlisle, shot 10-over par, 874. Despite a successful final round, tying for the lowest round of the day, it wasn’t enough, and the Pacers landed in sixth place overall.

The Pacers will be back on the course through March 7 and 8, when USC Aiken hosts the 25th annual Cleveland Golf Palmetto Intercollegiate, a 54-hole tournament that will be sure to put the competing teams to the test.
