COVID-19 case numbers are decreasing in South Carolina and across nation

For the week of Feb. 5-Feb. 11, the average daily case for the United States was 215,418, according to CDC data. This is down from 309,373 average cases from the week prior.

South Carolina reported a weekly average case load of 4,423 positives. This number is also down, having had 6,572 average daily cases from the week prior.

Across the United States, there have been a total of 77,179,255 confirmed cases with 910,373 deaths, according to CDC data. South Carolina has reported 1,427,024 confirmed cases with 16,017 deaths.

USC Aiken reports fourteen new cases for the week of Feb. 5-Feb. 11 of the population of 3126 students. This does not include Palmetto College, RN to BSN, or MBA programs. There has been a total of thirty-five cumulative known positives, as of Jan. 19. USCA is still in green alert level in their “Ready, Set, Return” protocol, where rate of transmission remains low, and masks are still required in buildings on campus.
