Dorm Dash: Olivia's Sausage Bites

Dorm Dash: Olivia's Sausage Bites

My best friend, Olivia, makes these sausage bites for Christmas every year. I made them for the first time this year, and was blown away by how simple they were to make. My brother, whose diet consists of mostly candy, pushed the candy to the side to devour these sausage bites. They make the perfect on-the-go breakfast as they have carbs, fat and protein to keep you fueled through your morning classes.

Ingredients:

  • 1 lb. ground sausage (I like using hot sausage, but you can use any kind you like.)

  • 1 lb. shredded cheese (I use 2 different 8 oz. blocks of cheddar, usually one that is extra sharp and one that is more mild, but Olivia likes to use pepper jack when she makes hers. I recommend shredding the cheese yourself opposed to buying it pre-shredded as it melts better.)

  • ½ cup milk

  • 3 cups Bisquick

Directions:

  1. Preheat your oven to 350 degrees.

  2. Mix all ingredients together in a large mixing bowl.

  3. Form sausage mixture into balls and place on a greased baking sheet.

  4. Bake for around 20 minutes – depending on how big you make your sausage bites it may take a little longer, so just make sure you check on them.

  5. Allow to cool and enjoy! These can be frozen and popped in the microwave for an on-the-go breakfast.
