Antauwn Wade is a senior student at USC Aiken who has been painting small angels on windows across the Lowcountry to spread a message of hope during the pandemic.

Wade is a fine arts major who has also worked with the basketball team as an assistant coach. He came up with the idea for this project after talking with the SC Arts Commission.

“One day after speaking with the SC Arts Commission, I was intrigued to come up with an idea that would not only be a social experiment but a visual representation of God’s work,” said Wade. “My vision was to paint small angels on storefronts to give everyone a reminder that God is still in control and we are all protected.”

Wade’s hope is that his angels will be a relief to those who see them, as well as a demonstration of God’s power.

“We cannot control the virus but we are still under God’s protection,” he said. “I want people to be able to see my angels and feel a sense of comfort as well as an understanding of God working in a mysterious way.”

Wade will continue to paint angels on storefronts for the time being.

“I would also like to thank God for using me a vessel to get his message out,” he said.
