Delaney Trushel, freshman, majoring in Exercise Science, is a consistently scoring top player of the women’s basketball team.

Trushel has been playing basketball since she was 10 years old, she shared. At this point in the semester, there are no games scheduled for the team, only workouts.

“It’s been a lot of fun,” she said. “COVID kinda messed up our season and we had a lot of games cancelled and stuff, which was unfortunate.”

She shared that playing and practicing with the team has been fun, and that she is “looking forward to next year since most of our team is coming back.”

Her inspiration for college basketball was partly financial, but also her passion drove her to continue the sport: “I just love basketball and couldn’t imagine not playing.”

Trushel has a twin sister, Emily, also on the basketball team. She remarked that they were both into the sport, having grown up playing together with friends and family. They were both spotted as all-district selections and maintained honor-roll statuses while playing the sport throughout high school.

“Even after college, we want to stay in the sport world,” she expressed. “I want to be a physical therapist, and she wants to be an athletic trainer.”
