Column: USC Aiken needs better Wi-Fi on campus

Column: USC Aiken needs better Wi-Fi on campus

Since assignments, lectures and notes are predominantly found online through our school’s various websites, many would assume that the Wi-Fi on campus would be better.

As a resident student, Wi-Fi is a huge problem. More than once per lecture, my or another student's Wi-Fi will disconnect, causing us to miss information being delivered during class. My assignment will disconnect and I lose all of my work and have to restart.

Another problem I have is when I am taking an exam and the Wi-Fi cuts out and there is the possibility of losing all of my previous answers or my exam not being accepted and being marked as a zero.

Some professors take attendance of their classes, and when the Wi-Fi cuts out, the professors mark their students as absent, even though it’s not the student’s fault.

While I understand that the school is doing as well as it can under the stressful circumstances of navigating online learning, I believe that the issues with the Wi-Fi need to be a priority.
