Feature: Hoss Brown, building a more perfect world

After working at USC Aiken for nearly two years, staff member Hoss Brown will be pursuing other work. Brown has been the assistant director of student life – Diversity Initiatives for a year and nine months, and during his time on campus he developed initiatives and programs that inspired diversity and inclusion among the student body.

“Upon leaving USC Aiken I am leaving higher education for the corporate world,” he said. “I will be a diversity and inclusion consultant for Georgia Power.”

During his time at USC Aiken, Brown has enjoyed interacting with passionate students and is excited to see what the future has in store for these students.

“We truly do have some wonderful allies and advocates on this campus. I cannot wait to see the individuals that they will flourish into,” said Brown.

Brown’s favorite part of the job was creating personal connections with the students.

“I have had the honor of knowing that I have made impacts here in the campus community,” he said. “Though I value the major initiatives I have led, the personal interactions that I have had will always mean the most to me.”

Brown urges the students to continue being advocates and allies.

“The more we learn,” he said, “a more perfect world we can build.”
