2020 sucks, here's some things that don't

This year alone has given me more stress in the last three months than my parents’ divorce back in 2000, and I was only two then.

We all are still facing a pandemic, systemic racism and, for some ungodly reason, murder hornets.

Though I know most of us just feel defeated, here are some things that happened this year that don't suck as bad as 2020.

Tiger King

If you haven’t seen the hit Netflix documentary series “Tiger King,” let me be the first to tell you, you’re in for a wild ride. Animal owners Joe Exotic, Carole Baskin and others share their lifestyle in working with wild (now domesticated) animals, more specifically, tigers. The show is filled with drugs, sex, death threats and Joe’s trip to prison. Watching Tiger King gave me more serotonin than this whole year combined, it is really worth a watch.

Lady Gaga and Ariana Grande Collaboration

On May 22 of this year, pop icons Lady Gaga and Ariana Grande dropped their single “Rain on Me” as a part of Gaga’s new dance album “Chromatica.” This absolute banger has been on the top 10 charts for nine weeks now.  Here in their music video, you can see both Gaga and Grande killing it in both style and performance. This song alone cured my 2020 depression.

Legalized Gay Marriage in Costa Rica

Four days later on May 26 of this year, Costa Rica legalized same-sex marriage. For obvious reasons, this is awesome for the people of Costa Rica. The LBTQ community deserves the same rights as cis-gendered straight people. Though this should have been legal before, it is a great accomplishment for Costa Rica.

New Girl Scout Cookie

I am definitely a caramel delight fan when it comes to Girl Scout Cookies, but I am more than happy to announce I will be trying their new cookie for the 2021 season “Toast-Yay.” According to the New York Post, the “... French toast-themed dessert features a top layer of frosting with a maple syrup-like flavor, a crunchy texture and a signature trefoil stamp, and the cookie is shaped like a slice of toast.” These cookies are already available in certain areas but will be available to everyone in January 2021 (if it would ever get here.)
