University Theatre Players to compete in national festival

USC Aiken’s theatre department will be participating again in the Kennedy Center American College Theater Festival, or KCACTF for short.

Two main stage shows, out of the five shows the program will put on through the season, will receive live feedback from outside adjudicators and written comments. Through this, students can be nominated for certain scholarships.

Students who are nominated for awards will then go through three rounds of auditions at the festival and have potential to go to the Kennedy Center if they’re selected from their region.

Three students are nominated for the Irene Ryan Acting scholarship: Jaxen Coleman, Angelo Gooch and Andrew Randolf.  Leah Tucker is nominated for the Stage Management Fellowship scholarship and Tres Taylor is participating in the Musical Theatre initiative.

The festival is from Feb. 4-8 in Spartanburg, S.C. During the festival, students will also take part in workshops, go see shows and make connections with other theatre students.
