Strumming in the SAC

On Wednesday, Nov. 6 guitar students hosted an ensemble performance in order to raise awareness about private guitar lessons in the Student Activities Center. The performers, Sophie King, Lance Reynolds and Albert Jackson, under the direction of Professor Steven Sloan, took turns performing both solo sections and ensemble pieces.

Sophomore nursing major Sophie King said she started playing the guitar because she had previously played the violin, and in her family band, they needed a guitarist. When asked about the class, she said “ … Sloan is an amazing professor. He not only cares about how well you’re doing in his class, he cares about how you’re doing in life.”

Guitar lessons can be taken in a one credit hour or two credit hour class where students will learn proper playing techniques and history of the guitar. The students will perform in a recital at the end of the semester.

Details about how to add it can be given by advisers.
