Saturday SEED fair to provide fun for all ages

This Saturday, USC Aiken is hosting the 34th annual Science Education Enrichment Day (SEED), which is a Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) fair for children and families.

From 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., university students and educators will be hosting interactive demonstrations and exhibits to help young people understand how STEM fields intersect their daily lives. The SEED promo also states that the fair functions to “inspire today’s students to become tomorrow’s innovators.”

The exhibits will be located in several areas on campus, including the Ruth Patrick Science Center, the Student Activities Center (SAC), the science building and the Quad.

Demonstrations scheduled for this year’s event include a live sheep’s brain dissection and a beanbag-tossing game that demonstrates neural plasticity, which refers to a neuron’s ability to change in response to environmental alterations.
